Bank of Finland: Monetary Policy and Research Department

The department is responsible for the Bank of Finland's research activity, in which the main focus is on the macro economy and the financial markets. The Bank of Finland Institute for Economies in Transition (BOFIT), which is part of the department, analyses economic developments and policies in Russia and China. 

Research seeks to meet high academic standards and to be of practical policy relevance. In addition to publications in refereed international academic journals, active participation in scientific meetings and close cooperation with the academic research community are integral parts of the research objectives and means to screen the quality of the Bank’s research.

The Bank of Finland acts as Finland's central bank, national monetary authority and member of the European System of central banks and the Eurosystem. In addition to monetary policy and research, the Bank of Finland has three other core functions: financial markets and statistics, banking operations and the maintenance of currency supply.
