Evaluation of EU support to the transport sector in Africa 2005- 2013 : Final Report ; Volume 1, Synthesis

This evaluation studies EU strategies and interventions in support to the transport sector in Africa during the period 2005-2013 taking into account EU’s legal instruments and official communications, international agreements, regional and national cooperation frameworks, other official commitments and institutional changes in the EU. All modes of transport sector support are considered including provision, operation, management and maintenance of transport infrastructure, institutional strengthening, capacity development and regulatory activities. The main objectives of the evaluation are to provide an overall independent assessment of EU’s past and current support and to identify key lessons learned in order to improve current and future EU strategies, programmes and actions of the EU external cooperation services.
