Mobility of foreign researchers in Norway
It is widely held that foreign incoming researchers contribute positively to research and to the production and dissemination of knowledge in Norway. However, little and incomplete information has been available on these researchers hitherto, as to their origin, fields of study, length of stay and so forth. Linking various data registers allows us to examine the stock and flows of mobile researchers and to compute mobility rates. A survey conducted among foreign, highly educated researchers in Norway is used to shed light on their reasons for moving and their experiences from the stay. We discuss policy used to attract researchers to Norway. Copyright , Beech Tree Publishing.
